In cooperation with the City of Prague and the Prague 10 municipal district, we have announced the international urban and architectural competition Kodaňská 1441, the aim of which is to find a new form for the city block located between Kodaňská, Kavkazská and Moldavská streets in the Vršovice district.

As also summarised in the article “Náhrada Chemapolu získává jasnější obrysy” published on PrahaIN.cz, the site is currently occupied by an administrative complex known as Chemapol. After years of professional discussions, preparations and negotiations, an opportunity has emerged to replace the existing structure with high-quality urban development offering housing, civic amenities, public spaces and a standalone kindergarten administered by the municipal district.

The project is the result of long-term cooperation between the public and private sectors and an emphasis on open dialogue, including the involvement of local residents in the preparation of the competition brief. The architectural competition aims not only to design a new city block, but also to enhance the surrounding streets and public spaces so that they naturally connect to the urban structure of Vršovice and meet contemporary urban planning standards.

“Prague grows where we are able to agree on a common approach and high quality. The project on Kodaňská Street is exactly such a case. After years of preparation and negotiations, we now have a competition that can bring new energy, housing and services to this part of Vršovice. I appreciate that the city, the municipal district and the private investor have managed to find a consensus on a solution that respects the surroundings and delivers real benefits to residents,” said Bohuslav Svoboda, Mayor of the City of Prague, in the cited article.

Architectural teams from around the world can apply to the competition until January 12, 2026. The winning proposal will be presented to the public in the middle of next year.
